RDA Home Tour: Working at Home
The Rice Design Alliance will hold its 25th annual architecture tour on
Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, from 1 to 5 pm. Working at home,
once considered incompatible with middle-class domestic respectability,
gained popularity in the consumer market of American lifestyles during the
1990's. This year's tour, Working at Home, will feature seven houses in a
variety of neighborhoods that present a mixed-use alternative to the
exclusively residential housing options offered by the Houston market. Houses and Architects:
4409 Mount Vernon, I. Phillips/Wild Design
2309 Park Street, Nonya Grenader, FAIA
1904 Decatur Street, MC2 Architects
615 Asbury Street, Rob Civitello, AIA
619 Asbury Street, Rob Civitello, AIA/Local Architects
4310 Hazard Street, Richard Payne, FAIA
2122 Persa Street, Taft Architects
Tour is open to RDA members only; memberships can be purchased at any house
for $35 and include a tour ticket; member tickets are $15; $10 for students
and seniors.
