The AIA Houston Committee on Architecture for Health (CAH) convened January 24, electing new officers and setting an agenda for 2002 of expanding membership and programs, and conducting tours of an array of architectural projects. Bo Bulter of FKP Architects will chair the committee, with vice chair Beth Lustig, programs and membership director Phil Chisholm, newsletter director Arnold Parker, IIDA liaison Amy Bezecny and TSA liaison Bill Frye. CAH meetings will be held the third Tuesday of each month at noon at the Chapter office. To RSVP for the meeting and lunch, leave a message at 713/520-5204.

The Healthcare Committee will be presenting a tour of the Healing Garden at the Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) on Thursday, March 14 from 4-6 pm. The award-winning project will be presented by Earl Broussard, ASLA, whose firm, TBG Partners, completed the project in 1998. For more information, call Susan Boyce, TBG Partners, at 713/838-7965.


Urban Design

The Urban Design Committee, David Robinson, AIA, chair, invites interested colleagues to join their monthly round table discussions of issues important to the urban fabric of Houston. Recently James Vick, AIA, coordinator of the R/UDAT effort, and John Sedlak, METRO vice president for planning, engineering and construction, have been the featured guests. Coming in on March 21 is Rey de la Reza, FAIA, president of AIA Houston, whose downtown clients include Cotswold, METRO, and the University of Houston Downtown. April guest will be Art Storey, head of Harris County Flood Control District.
