The Rice Design Alliance will begin its 2002 Fall Lecture series, "Town and Country: Inventing the American City" on October 25.
The lectures include:
"Chicago and the Great West: The Dialects of Town and Country in 19th-century America," September 25;
"Frederick Law Olmstead: Reform and Invention," October 9;
"Inventing Santa Fe: A Rusticated Urbanism," October 16;
"New Orleans and the Garden District: A New Urban Landscape," October 23.
