The value of a firm can be greatly leveraged by the firm/business continuing for more than one generation, yet few actually accomplish this. New AIA Scope of Services Documents

Wednesday, February 20, 4-5:30 pm
AIA Document B141-1997, Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Architect, was reformatted to allow architects to expand the range of services they provide. Frank D. Musica Assoc. AIA, Esq. will cover new Scope of Services documents recently crafted by the AIA Documents Committee and examine how to integrate these new Scope of Services documents into the terms and conditions of B141-1997. You will also explore how these new documents can help architects market expanded services and provide clients with focused professional skills. 1.5 LUs, 1.5 HSWs

Understanding and Managing Risk

Join the the CNA/Schinnerer program to learn about the tools architects need to manage the demands and expectations of clients and other participants in the project delivery process. The morning session addresses planning and design phase issues including risk management concepts and communications strategies and techniques. The afternoon session focuses on the construction phase issues of identifying early indicators of trouble and minimizing risk in the architect's field and office services during construction administration. Air, Water and Moisture Management in Commercial Building Envelopes

Friday, February 22, 8-10 am
Steve Easley, S.C. Easley & Associates, will describe the importance of designing durable wall systems for commercial construction by protecting the building envelope from damage due to air, water and moisture infiltration. Building redundancy in the commercial building envelope and methods currently available for accomplishing this will also be discussed. 2 LUs, 2 HSWs

The first in a new series of Rowlett Lectures of Distinguished Design and Construction Firms at the CRS Center in the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University presents "Three Firms, Three Strategies: Successes and Failures." 3D/International, HKS, Inc. and RTKL Associates, Inc. will be represented.
