Last December, members of the 110-person architectural firm Kirksey weathered the rain and cold to plant 400 three-gallon trees along White Oak Bayou, continuing the firm's 15-year holiday tradition of planting trees in honor of their clients. This year's planting totals 4,830 new trees planted to date by the firm, and supplements the 300 trees Kirksey planted last year on the same site, totaling 700 trees for this park along the bayou. Kirksey's Annual Tree Planting began in 1987 with the planting of 200 pine trees as a holiday contribution to local communities and to the firm's clients. The number of trees planted has increased steadily over the years, now totaling 400. "Each year we've received such positive feedback, both from our clients and from local neighborhoods in which we've planted," says John Kirksey, President and founder.
