One of the most creative and influential architects of the century, Philip Johnson has always been at the forefront of stylistic change. This video is a look into the mind of a significant architect and what he calls his "diary" -- the house he designed and lives in. His famous "Glass House" in New Canaan, Connecticut, has no walls -- so that the landscape, in effect, becomes the wallpaper. By contrast, the guest house on the property has no windows, yet is still light and luxurious. This video follows Johnson at work, and the importance of the creative process is clearly presented. Shot at the time when Johnson was contemplating a building with no straight lines, Philip Johnson: Diary of an Eccentric Architect concentrates on this endeavor, as buildings and nature continue to interact outside his home in New Canaan. Popcorn will be served and a discussion will follow. 03/21/2006 : TUE : 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM : 4 HSW / 4 LU 4 Hour HSW at Bay Architects: GREEN TOOLBOX SERIES: LEED Green Building Rating System; GREEN TOOLBOX SERIES: The Process of Becoming LEED Accredited The AIA is pleased to announce our first CE SOUTH hosted by Bay Architects. He is a registered architect emeritus (Texas) and brings more than twenty years of architecture experience to NNA. BIM, or Building Information Modeling, software is the newest trend in computer-aided design. Many industry pundits have forecast that buildings will be built directly from the electronic models that BIM creates, or that architects will no longer create drawings but will instead "build buildings inside their computer". What is the role of drawings for the construction process? How can the "Building Information Model" approach improve architectural productivity and "downstream" analysis of buildings? What aspects of BIM have been oversold? Mr. Anderson will address these issues as he talks about BIM and upcoming trends in software for architectural design.
