08/24/2006 : THU : 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM : 2 HSW / 2 LU LightSPEED Technologies, Inc: Classroom Acoustics and Student Learning
Please join Trina Vaughn of LightSPEED Technologies, Inc. as she presents a seminar over Classroom Acoustics and Student Learning. A study of how a child's learning process can be impaired by a noisy classroom environment. Children are immature listeners who have to listen more precisely than adults to recognize and comprehend speech. Poor classroom acoustics can contribute to problems with speech perception and interfere with comprehension. Acoustics and classroom amplification systems work together to improve the classroom's learning environment.
Participants will learn how classroom noise affects children's learning process. Children learning is also affected by distance from teacher, softness of the signal, echoes in the room (reverberation) and interfering noise are additional factors to consider. At the end of the program, participants will understand that proper sound distribution using classroom amplification systems to complement the acoustical environment will greatly increase scholastic achievement.
Target Audience: School facility architects, specifiers, school facilities planners and engineers.
This CE will be held at the AIA Office, 3000 Richmond, Ste. 500
