Chapter business includes election of officers and directors for 1998, consideration of changes in the By-Laws, the year in review and presentation of awards by President Joe Webb, AIA. And of course Legal Hard Hat Required. Following the business meeting, we adjourn to the foyer for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Look for the candidates for Mayor in the crowd.
Bebe Burns will moderate the Mayoral Candidate Forum that begins in the Arena at 7 pm. Candidates Brown, Greanias, Huey, Lanau, Mosbacher, and Saenz have accepted our invitation to participate. Bebe will direct some questions on sprawl, distribution of city services, transportation, and regional planning to the candidates. The last part of the evening will be reserved for questions from the audience.

Understanding Revisions to Chapter 42: The Development Ordinance

Robert Litke, Director of the Planning and Development Department of the City of Houston, will review the revisions to the Ordinance. The purpose of the revisions is to break the blanket approach to development in Houston and to allow for differences in urban and suburban needs. Several Chapter members have worked on the revision committees. The Ordinance will go to the City Council for action later this month.
